Wipro reports almost nine percent profit in third quarter

Wipro, India's third-biggest software services company, on Friday declared a near-9 percent rise in profits in its third-quarter.

The company also announced the appointment of Jatin Dalal as its new Chief Financial Officer. Dalal replaced Suresh Senapaty who has superannuated.

In its third quarter ending December 31, 2014, Wipro announced that it had earned a net profit of 21.93 billion rupees (354.6 million dollars). In the same period in the previous year, it hada profit of 20.15 billion rupees.

Its total revenue rose to 120.85 billion rupees from 113.27 billion rupees last year.

Revenue growth was pegged at 1.3 per cent to 1,795.4 million dollars for the October-December period.

 

A Wipro release said that the company expects a quarterly growth of between 1808 million dollars and 1842 million dollars for the fourth quarter.

The National Association for Software and Services Companies expects the industry to grow between 13 and 15 per cent in 2015.

The company reported an attrition rate of 16.5 per cent as against 16.9 per cent at the end of July-September period.

Wipro's headcount as of December 31 totaled 156,866 employees.

Wipro added 44 new clients during the period as against 50 clients in the July-September period, thereby taking the total number of Wipro's active clients to 1018.
