A 65-year-old Brit women has claimed that she hasn't eaten anything since early May.

The British-born Naveena Shine stopped eating on May 3 to discover if she could survive only on water, sunlight and tea, the New York Daily News reported.

Shine, who said that she had been inspired by ancient Yogic practices and New Age philosophy, has been documenting her efforts on Facebook and YouTube.

She asserted that she intends to try this for at least 40 days and if possible for four to six months.

Shine told Seattle's Fox affiliate, KCPQ that obscure Yogis, who are called "breatharians" have also attempted the practice previously.

She also wonders if food is an addiction and wrote on Facebook that people are simply not accessing our inherent ability to live on light.

Shine wrote in her blog that if people did not have to eat, their lives would be free, as a vast amount of time, effort and resources go into merely putting food on the table.

She added that if humans stopped eating, the planet could be turned into a place of beauty.
