Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur on Thursday assured that an investigation was underway to catch the culprits who threw a woman off the Malwa Express last night after she resisted their robbery attempt.

The victim, who sustained severe head injuries after being thrown off the train, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

"She is stable now, but she has had a head injury. Investigation is underway, the culprits will be caught and punished," Gaur told the media here.

He said some miscreants got on the train last night and tried to rob her of her purse.

"Some miscreants got on to the train at night. The victim was resting then. The miscreants tried to rob her purse, but she ran after them and faced them; apparently when they reached the gate they tried to push her away," said Gaur.

He also stressed that it wasn't a case of harassment and the victim was in a stable condition.

According to reports, the victim was found unconscious on the railway tracks early this morning.

This untoward incident has once again brought to the fore shocking incidents of crime against women in the country.
