Women activists on Sunday strongly condemned the female teacher of a government school in Gurdaspur District for allegedly stripping 13 girl students.

Former National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Mamta Sharma expressed sadness over the incident and called for strict action against the teacher.

"I am sad that a female teacher has done this, she should have been considerate towards girls. She has done this for mere 500 rupees, government should take strict action," Sharma told ANI.

Meanwhile, National Federation of Indian Women general secretary Annie Raja termed the incident as unfortunate.

"This is very unfortunate and we strongly condemn such an act by a teacher. Women are being seen as commodity, the mindset should change," Raja told ANI.

According to reports, a female teacher of government girl's middle school in a village in Gurdaspur district, strip searched 13 girl students of seventh grade after she found a Rs. 500 note missing from her wallet.
