Women are going crazy about a bizarre new social media trend, where they have to balance coin on their collarbone to prove how good their figure is.

The challenge has taken off on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, and has gained over 34 million hits within a day since it appeared on June 16, with thousands of women posting selfies and flaunting their bone structure piled with coins, the Daily Star has reported.

Though on an average women are seen holding around 20 coins on a single collarbone, Chinese actress Lv Jiarong shared a snap balancing a total of 80 coins on hers.

People have also given the challenge a twist, by balancing eggs, mobile phones and flasks on their neck.

Since the Chinese culture does not endorse low-cut dresses, this act has quickly gone viral since it gives women a chance to show off their slender figure.

However, it has also faced some backlash, with some people calling it distasteful and stupid, adding that it could promote eating disorders and hence was not worth doing.

The trend comes in after a recent belly button challenge, where people demonstrate their figures and flexibility by reaching around behind their backs to try and touch their belly button.
