Actress Salma Hayek believes that women of colour are the easiest to get discredited and that's why she feels that disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein only denied her and actress Lupita Nyong'o's sexual assault claims, but didn't respond to the harassment accusations made by others in the showbiz.

"We are the easiest to get discredited. It is a well-known fact. So he (Weinstein) went back, attacking the two women of colour, in hopes that if he could discredit us," Hayek said at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, reported Variety.

In December, Salma Hayek penned a blistering essay for The New York Times, in which she accused Weinstein of sexual harassment during the making of 'Frida'. She also claimed Weinstein threatened to kill her.

Weinstein's lawyers immediately denied the claims. Later on, he even denied allegations by N'yongo, who said Weinstein sexually harassed her in 2011 when she was still a student at Yale University.

Weinstein is currently facing lawsuits in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and London. Dozens of women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Uma Thurman have been vocal about Weinstein's inappropriate behaviour towards them.
