Women's golf No. 1 Lydia Ko went 'OMG' over Lorde's congratulatory tweet

South Korea born New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko claims that she was star struck when her fellow New Zealand teen singing superstar Lorde's tweet for her, after she was ranked women's golf world number one.

Ko was ranked the women's golf world number one on Tuesday and speaking for the first time since then, she said that she had taken the past couple of days to let everything to sink in. She claimed that she has tried to go back to her normal routine, but added that it's a huge honour.

The 17-year-old New Zealander tops the standings by the slimmest of margins from the woman she replaced, South Korea's Inbee Park, following her second-place finish in the opening event of the 2015 LPGA Tour season, the Coates Golf Championship in Florida, Stuff.co.nz reported.

 

Ko claimed that she was pleased and surprised at the number of congratulations that flowed from around the world, but none more so than that of Lorde.

Ko claimed that she was surprised by the tweet from Lorde, adding that she was Billboard chart number one with her song 'Royals' and she sent her a tweet. She claimed that she was like 'oh my God, oh my God,' adding that for somebody of the singer's status to send her a tweet like that.

Ko celebrated by heading out for dinner, to a Japanese restaurant, with her agent and her parents, the report added.
