With the Jammu and Kashmir High Court quashing the detention of separatist leader Masarat Alam under the Public Safety Act (PSA), Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said the government won't allow anyone to disturb peace in the state.
"We are not going to allow anybody where the peace of the state is disturbed, we won't allow anyone to disturb peace or indulge in secessionist activities," Singh told ANI
"He is the person who had been let off earlier also, but when we thought he is becoming a challenge to the peace and tranquillity in the region he was arrested," he added.
A single bench of Justice M.H. Attar quashed the PSA order of the state government under which Alam had been detained. Under the PSA, no bail can be granted to the detainee and the arrest can only be challenged in the High Court.
