World number one Tiger Woods has reportedly hit out at a golf column hinting that he cheated many times this year, and has issued a veiled challenge to US TV network Golf Channel, which carried out the column.

Golfer and the channel's analyst Brandel Chamblee has given Woods an 'F' for a series of rules violations this season and said that Woods was being a 'little cavalier' with the rules.

According to Stuff.co.nz, although Chamblee apologised for the 'incited discourse' though not for the content of his column, Woods said that ball is in the court of the Golf Channel and it is their decision to take it in any way they want, adding that the entire issue is disappointing for him as Chamblee 'reignited' the whole situation.

The column of Chamblee, who has developed a reputation for being critical of Woods mainly regarding his golf game, struck a nerve with many because of the implication that three rules violations and a penalty drop involving Woods amounted to cheating, which is the strongest accusation possible in golf, the report added.
