World No.1 Tiger Woods has said that he hoped that he can fight against the effects of a sore back with a normal work day on Sunday to challenge for victory at The Barclays.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Woods complained of back and neck discomfort earlier this week which he blamed on a soft hotel bed and also looked uncomfortable at times on Saturday at the Liberty National Golf Course, where the opening event of the FedEx Cup playoffs is being held.

Despite receiving treatment, Woods, who has already won five times on the PGA Tour this year, was admittedly bothered by the soreness in his back, saying that his stint in the third round, in which a 69 put him tied for fourth, four shots behind co-leaders Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland, was 'a grind'.

Stating that he starts off properly every day and then his condition starts to deteoriate, Woods, however, hoped that he would be able to fight through his problem and win the tournament.

Due to weather delays on Thursday that threw the tournament schedule into disarray, Woods and 39 other players had to return to the course early Saturday morning to finish their second round before the scheduled third round of play, the report added.
