The World Bank is set to lend over a million dollars to implement regional connectivity projects in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan to boost trade and investment among these nations.
A detailed plan to bankroll the connectivity projects to Finance Minister A M A Muhith was presented by a transport team of the global lender at the World Bank headquarters in Washington in April, reported the Daily Star.
A team of World Bank visited several ports, customs points and India-Bangladesh multimodal corridors in 2014 and this year as well.
During the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh, several agreements related to transit were signed.
