Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday said that though he had been in office for nearly a decade, he still nurtured a wish to do a lot more in the area of healthcare, improving healthcare facilities for children and women, especially in the rural areas of India.
Replying to a question posed by ANI as to whether he had any regrets that in the nine-and-a-half-years, he couldn't deliver on something he wanted to very badly, Dr. Singh said: "Well, I am sorry I have'nt thought so much on this matter, but certainly, I would like to do lot more in the area of healthcare, healthcare for children, healthcare for women etc."
In his reply, he also spoke about the National Rural Health Mission having achieved "impressive results", but added that a lot more needed to be done.
