Wreck hunter expert David Mearns has reportedly said that he is confident that the missing Malaysia Airline Flight MH370 wreckage site has been found and that the recovery of the black boxes is inevitable.

Mearns, director of Blue Water Recoveries, told the ABC's 7.30 program on Tuesday that he was confident that, because of their strength, the four "pings" detected were emitted from the black boxes, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The wreck hunter said that the government had essentially found the wreckage site, adding that while the government hasn't announced that yet, if somebody asked him technically whether they had enough information to say that, his answer was a yes.

He said that the search teams have got four very good detections with the right spectrum of noise coming from them and it can't be from anything else.

The American wreck hunter was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his work after he found the wreckage of HMAS Sydney in 2008, 66 years after it had been lost in the Indian Ocean during World War II, the report added.
