Writer of 'Downhill Racer' James Salter dies at 90

The highly acclaimed writer James Salter has died at 90.

His widow Kay Eldredge confirmed that the 'Downhill Racer' writer, who lived in Bridgehampton, passed away in Sag Harbor, Deadline.com reported.

The 'Downhill Racer' (1969), directed by Michael Ritchie and starring Robert Redford as a member of the U.S. ski team, was his most successful film.
