Even as the Supreme Court rejected his plea against a death penalty in connection with his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, Yakub Abdul Razak Memon cleared his MA political science exam from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Nagpur.
His penchant for education has led Yakub Memon, a chartered accountant by profession, to take admission in MA (Political Science) course even after having a masters degree in English subject.
IGNOU (Nagpur) Regional Director Dr P Sivaswaroop said that Memon scored second division marks in his exam and was always curious during the study sessions to know about the topics.
The court had earlier stayed Memon's execution on June 2, 2014.
Memon, who is a key conspirator with Dawood Ibrahim in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, is one of ten accused who were awarded the death penalty by a special TADA court.
Memon's death sentence was earlier upheld by a Supreme Court bench on March 21, 2013.
