Making the Congress' stance further clear on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, former finance minister P. Chidambaram said on Wednesday the Congress Party would like to see the government's formulations on those three issues, which were raised by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"As of now, we don't have the government's formulations on those three issues. I was a part of the GST exercise for many years, and therefore, the Congress Party would like to see the government's formulations on those three issues, and how well it accommodates the concerns that we have expressed on those three issues," he said.

"So, unless we have the government's formulations on these three issues, I don't see how we can take the process of passing the GST Bill forward. So, I hope that the government will soon formulate its position and give it to the Congress Party," he said.

"I have discussed the GST Bill with both the Congress president and vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Both the Congress president and former prime minister told Prime Minister Modi that we have three major concerns on the GST Bill and we have given our formulations of all those concerns should be addressed in the Bill" he said, referring to the meeting at the Prime Minister's residence at 7, race Course Road, recently.

"There was a discussion, where the government explained its position, and we said we would reflect upon it, but we would like to have the government's formulation on the three issues," he added.
