Cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh on Monday blamed Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his son's omission from the World Cup squad, alleging that the wicketkeeper-captain had 'betrayed' the southpaw.
"I want to ask, what problem does Mahendra Singh Dhoni have with Yuvraj Singh. Today, even after playing for India for 15 years, even after winning 90 percent of the matches for India, playing with Dhoni to win many tournaments and playing for the country despite cancer, why is he behaving with Yuvraj in such a manner," Yograj told mediapersons here.
When asked about the reason for Yuvraj's omission from the World Cup squad, Yograj said: "What can the selectors do when the captain says that he doesn't want Yuvraj in the side."
"I pray to god that India wins the World Cup under Dhoni's captaincy, but I am sad that such a great captain like him can stoop so low," he added.
Yuvraj, who was man of the series in the 2011 World Cup, was not included even in the list of 30 probables for the 2015 World Cup along with other senior cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Virendra Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan.
Earlier in the day, Yuvraj was brought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 16 crores during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
