Monopoly has refuted claims made by the Wall Street Journal that said that the jail spaces have been removed from the iconic game.

Nicole Agnello, senior brand manager at Hasbro, said that the jail spaces are still on the board and has the same rules involving jail as the classic Monopoly game, the Huffington Post reported.

She said that the game play of the Monopoly Empire game has been changed, asserting that people will sell brands rather than real estate now.

In the original report the Wall street Journal had said that Hasbro had changed the game by removing the jail places, which lengthened the duration of the game.

The publication had reported that Jonathan Berkowitz, vice president of marketing at Hasbro, the newly vamped up game could now be finished in half-an-hour.
