Encouraged by the 'Start Up India' initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, youth from the country's northeast region have decided to become a part of it and to make a career for themselves.

The event was graced by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju who has been associated with the Young Leaders Connect (YLC) since its inception.

Rijiju said, "In this country, every village, every society and every state is mainstream India. We are all equal and we are citizens of this country. We have the most rainfall places in the whole world; we have petroleum, coal and are also gifted fresh water which is the most valuable resources on this planet. So, if you look closely, the natural resources can make region or state rich but the poor management will make the state and the people poor,"

While promising all help to the region, Rijiju called for unity among all the northeastern states for faster development.

Speaking on the unemployment scenario in the state, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, "There are a large number of unemployed youths in the region. However, it is not possible to accommodate all of them in the government sector. So, here lies the importance of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs who start businesses also create jobs for other people. My State has potential in tourism, electricity and hydro-power. But, we lack skilled manpower. Thus such conclave gives opportunity to the youth to interact with each other and share their opinions as well."

"There is friendship and this is what we are looking for. Through this platform, we come together, strengthen each other and take northeast to the next level, said a youth Hekani jakhalu.

Iconic Indian footballer and chairperson of YLC Bhaichung Bhutia, along with other dignitaries were also present during the event. Initiatives like these will help the youth to realize their dreams and contribute to the society as well.
