Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on "Lalitgate" was inexplicably deafening and warned that he was 'eroding' his political capital and credibility.

Maintaining that the people of India wanted Modi to act swiftly in the matter, Chadha said, "Whether it is a protest outside the parliament or inside, the AAP will forever take forward the demands and aspirations of the people of India. Today, the people of India, in one voice, want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act. His silence is deafening, it is worrisome and detrimental to his own credibility."

"With each passing hour, he is showing his accommodative approach towards corruption, he is essentially eroding his own political capital and credibility," he added.

AAP youth wing members had earlier in the day staged a protest outside Sushma Swaraj's residence here, demanding her immediate removal from the Union Cabinet over her alleged role in facilitating travel documents for London-based former IPL czar Lalit Modi, who is under the law enforcement scanner for a graft-related case.

Swaraj has denied the allegations and said on social media she was helping Modi, who is based in London, on "humanitarian grounds" as he needed to visit his ailing wife in Portugal.
