Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari launched his election campaign from Nawabshah by saying the current political situation in the country needed his presence in parliament.
"I have no personal desire of going to the assembly but want to go there to raise my voice against the injustices being meted out to the people," the Dawn quoted Zardari, as saying.
He had announced on the 9th death anniversary of the PPP's slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto that he, and his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, would contest the elections to get elected to parliament.
Zardari had said that he would contest the election from Nawabshah constituency while Bilawal would contest from Larkana constituency.
Accusing the ruling PML-N government of discrimination towards Sindh, he said the CPEC was started due to their relentless efforts, but the government is providing benefits only to Punjab.
Zardari also accused the Sharif government of halting the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project whose foundation stone was laid by him.
