Zimbabwe's cricket team have left here to take part in tour of Pakistan, the first in that country in six years.

The Dawn quoted Zimbabwe Cricket Association spokesman Lovemore Banda, as saying on Monday that the team would reach Pakistan via Dubai on Tuesday.

Last week, there were doubts whether the five-match tour going ahead following the massacre of 45 Shias in an attack on a bus in Karachi.

It is the first tour of Pakistan by a Test-level team since seven Sri Lankan cricketers were wounded during a 2009 attack by militants in Lahore.

Zimbabwe will play two Twenty20 and three One-Day Internationals at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which has been fully secured.
