Zimbabwe has capitalized on a first-innings collapse by Pakistan, which was bowled out for 230 in nine overs, to take the upper hand on day three of the second Test on Thursday at the Harare Sports Club.
However, the report said that Pakistan fought back in the final session by dismissing three Zimbabwe batsmen Tino Mawoyo (58), Hamilton Masakadza (44) and nightwatchman Tinashe Panyangara, in the last three overs.
According to Sport24, Zimbabwe was 121-4 at the close of the day, building in a 185-run lead by stumps, hoping for a change in their performance in the two-Test series.
However, the report said that Pakistan, which won the first of the two Tests at Harare Sports Club by 221 runs after also surrendering a first-innings lead, regained confidence by finding their way back into the match with the dismissal of Mawoyo, Masakadza and Panyangara.
But the report mentioned that Zimbabwe was in control of the game with its lead approaching 200 and in its best position in years to win a Test against a team other than Bangladesh, adding that the African nation has not beat Pakistan in a Test in nearly 15 years.
Meanwhile, the report also said that Younis Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 77 in the first innings and seemed to guide his side smoothly to within reach of Zimbabwe's first-innings total of 294.
