As Vento's sibling Skoda Rapid is getting a facelift on 30th September with a brand new diesel engine that is mated to a dual-shift DSG automatic box; expect the 2014 Vento facelift to launch early next month with similar updates. Both of these sedan will borrow the VW's new diesel engine that was debuted with the Polo facelift recently and will replace the 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel currently present on both Rapid and Vento. Moreover, As Vento is Polo's twin-sedan similar changes that were present in the Polo will be seen on Vento as well. The facelifted Vento was reportedly spotted testing recently.
The new engine that debuted in the Polo extracts power in two states of tune - Polo gets a 88.8bhp (90PS) version, while Polo GT TDI gets 103.5bhp (105PS) version. Both Rapid and Vento will receive the more powerful version of the engine producing 103.5bhp (105PS) and 250Nm of max torque. Like the Rapid, Vento is also likely to be mated to a DSG – dual-shift automatic gearbox (probably the 7-Speed auto unit that is present on the Polo GT TSI). This makes both Rapid and Vento certainly the best diesel automatics in the county with a sole competitor Verna automatic having an 'old school' – 4-speed auto box.
Like the Polo, Vento is also likely to get the dual bezel headlamps, updated fog lamps with corning lights, new set of alloys (probably 16-inch) and tweaked taillamps. On the inside, expect the new flat-bottom steering wheel of the 2014 Polo along with silver finish central console and updated audio system with voice inputs. Out of the blue, Vento might also feature a touch screen seeing the competition.
