We reported earlier that Ford will launch an all-new entry level Ka hatchback aka Figo, which will replace the current model. The 2015 Figo/Ka concept has been revealed in the Brazilian market, which will also make its way to the Indian car market by 2014-15. The overall design of the car looks way better than the current model as it now features Ford's new design philosophy.

The Figo hatchback was the company's top selling car until the launch of EcoSport in India and Ford India will surely be aiming to further enhance its numbers. The next model will be launched in the country by late next year or by early 2015. It will be manufactured at Ford's new Sanand facility in Gujarat, and is expected to be the first model to be rolled out from this plant.

Codenamed B562, the next generation Ford Figo will be based on the old Fiesta platform. The company has modified the platform by using thin high-strength steel, which makes it a lightweight city car platform. The platform will be shortened to make best use of it, and will also underpin a compact sedan that will come as a replacement for the Ford Classic model. It will be made available in both diesel and petrol guise. While the petrol model will get the famous 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, the diesel Figo will derive its power from the 1.5-litre TDCI turbo diesel engine. The engines will be mated to five-speed manual transmissions.

Ford India could also pitch the next generation Figo against the likes of Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20, so it might come with automatic transmission as well. However, it is still a speculation, and its size shows that it will rival against Hyundai Grand i10 in India.
