Arjuna Awardee Deepa Malik finally begins the longest ever Pan India drive by a paraplegic for the Limca Book of World Record. The epic journey started from Chennai, covering 9 major cities and a distance of over 2300kms, and will finally be concluded in Guragaon (NCR region) in a span of 10 days. It is for the first time ever that a road drive cum awareness drive of such a magnanimous reach is being carried out in the country. Covering the entire western coast of India, it aims to reach a crowd worth lakhs in number.
The Project 'Wow-will on Wheels' has flagged off from the campus of Sathyabama University, Chennai to mar the gap between the abled and differently-abled people while driving on roads. Celebrating its 25 years of Excellence in Education, Col. Dr. Jappiaar, the Chancellor, Sathyabama University motivated the students to work on this project. "Entry is not important, Exit is important", he said during the ceremony.
The students of the University have redesigned a Renault Duster to enable Deepa to drive it using hand-led controls. The university also helped Deepa conceptualize and execute the drive with around 10 students accompanying her throughout her journey across the country.

As a leading automotive manufacture based in Chennai, Renault India also declared its support for the drive by helping spread a awareness of Deepa Malik cause of achieving 'ability beyond disability'. The company will also be working with the drive team to continue spreading the message across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Sumit Sawhney, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Renault India Pvt, Ltd said, "Renault is commited globally towards enabling mobility solutions for a;;. Today's drive in partnership with Sathyabama University and Deepa Malik, will help raise awareness on moving beyond disability and how mobility is a key part of this transition".
Welcomed by an audience of over 100 bikers called in by the members of the chennai Bullet-Biking group "Madras Bulls", bikers clapped and hooted for Deepa Malik who drove her polaris bike into the campus. Showing their support for her enthusiasm and her 'never say die' attitude Mr. Hari Haran, member Madras Bulls said, "We believe that life should be” lived beyond any distractions. Deepa Malik's enthusiasm and sportsmanship spirit is a motivation to one and all. If you like to travel, nothing can stop you".
The team comprising of Deepa Malik and students from the university will pit-stop at cities like Bangalore, Belgaum, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur and will finally reach Gurgaon (Haryana). She is expected to touch down the NCR region on the 30th September which will be followed by a press must and post flag-off ceremony of the World Record at the Lemon Tree Hotel in Gurgaon.
