The German luxury automaker – Audi has rolled out the 500,000th A1 from their manufacturing facility based in Brussels, Belgium. Audi A1 made its global debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and sales commenced in August 2010 in Germany and couple of months later in November in United Kingdom. Furthermore, Audi A1 Sportback - a five door version was introduced in the fall of November 2011. Adding more on the 500,000th milestone, a Misano red 500,000th Audi A1 adorning S line package and featuring 1.4-liter TFSI motor will be delivered to a customer in Germany who ordered it.
King Philippe of Belgium visited Audi's facility on this occasion, speaking on this - Thomas Sigi, Audi’s Board of Management Member for Human Resources, said, “The King’s visit on the jubilee of the Audi A1 is a special honor for the Brussels team.” He added further, “Our employees here produce the A1 family with experience, skill and passion, and at the same time demonstrate the international competitiveness of the plant in Belgium.”

Audi A1 is available in three-door and five-door versions and both the body types are also available in S1 sportier avatar. There are variety of turbo charged petrol TFSI and diesel TDI engines on board, namely, 1.2 TFSI, 1.4 TFSI, 1.8 TFSI along with 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI. Almost all the engines are on sale in the VW and Audi cars in India.
