BMW India launches the X6M and X5M at a price tag of INR 1.60 and 1.55 Crore, respectively (prices ex-showroom Chennai). Both these high-performance SUVs are expected to be priced over INR 1.5 Crore and are aimed to boost up the BMW’s stature among both buyers and enthusiasts. Earlier, the manufacturer has brought in performance cars that include the likes of the M3 sedan, M4 coupe, M6 Gran Coupe and the M5 sedan.
Under the hood, both of these will be sharing the same 4.4-litre Twin Turbo V8 that produces will 575 PS of power and a humongous torque of 750 Nm and is the most powerful motor ever developed by BMW. Transmission of these figures will be done via an 8-Speed automatic with paddle shifters. Moreover, the gearbox is coupled to the BMW XDrive all wheel drive system in order to offer a comparable amount of grip.

Despite these figures fuel consumption of the BMW X5M and BMW X6M has been cut by 20 per cent. Carbon emissions are similarly down by more than 20 per cent, to 258 g per km. Both of these accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds through the standard eight- speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h.
The exteriors of both these cars will differentiate themselves from the standard X6 and X5 by virtue of subtle aggressive touches. Those will include, gaping front lower bumpers, larger wheels and twin-quad exhaust popping out from the sculpted rear bumper.
Likewise, the insides too will get a sporty setup, courtesy to a sportier upholstery, carbon fibre trims and the M badging. Other than these the interiors are expected largely to remain same.

No doubt that none of the big German wants to lag behind in the performance car wars and are bringing in their hot cars with a steady pace. All of this is contributing to the delight of Indian car enthusiasts. As Audi has brought in cars like the RS5, RS6 Avant, RS7, TT and the R8, Mercedes has brought in the Ah My God! AMG line up.
