After a small recovery in November, December month sales of passenger cars in India too were good but not great. The main reason can be attributed to the fear of public that the excise duty cut may be withdrawn resulting in price hikes from January 2015. Hatchbacks again proved to be the choice of many customers with 50% market share, followed by sedans, SUVs and MUVs in that order. Following is the detailed analysis of the passenger car sales in December 2014.
