Honda has planned to introduce 4 new products in India, one is the Brio MPV that will compete with the Ertiga, second is the new Honda City, third being the Honda Jazz and finally we shall have the Jazz-based SUV. Next year is when the company’s new Rajasthan plant will begin production and increase the production capacity, from the current number of 150,000 units/year.
This at the moment, has restricted the company’s current production capacity. However, once the new plant is ready Honda will have several new products out in the market starting from the Honda City. Our sources confirm that the new Honda City should be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. The City has been the biggest hit for Honda in India and the company will waste no time to introduce the new vehicle from the moment it is launched. The Honda City has been replaced after every 5 years, and the last Honda City is just about to complete its existing cycle of 5 years. The current Honda City was launched during the festive season in 2008.
The new Honda City will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. The petrol will be the same, however its power could be tweaked, while the diesel will be the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC. The Honda’s strategy of man maximum machine minimum will be implemented on the new Honda Jazz and the City too.
The new Honda City will be based on the new Jazz platform and it will be produced in the Rajasthan plant. This could mean that the Honda Brio/Amaze and the future upcoming Honda Brio MPV will be manufactured in Greater Noida. The Jazz, City and the Jazz SUV will roll out from the Rajasthan plant. Honda seems to have the perfect recipe to capture a greater chunk of the market, with all its new products.
