Ford India sells 14,092 vehicles in August

Indian subsidiary of the American car manufacturer, Ford, registered 27 percent sales rise in the month of August. The company sold 14,092 units in combined domestic wholesale and export, up against 11,065 units in the corresponding month previous year.

The car maker’s exports jumped to 7,291 units from 3,057 vehicles during the last year, while the domestic wholesales witnessed down-graph at 6,801 units, as compared to 8,008 units delivered in the same period last year.

“We anticipate a continued revival in customer sentiments as we lead up to the festive season and are prepared to meet the higher demand for our cars, including the popular Ford EcoSport,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India.

 

“Alongside planning for a third-shift at our Chennai plant, we have significantly reduced the waiting period for most variants of the Ford EcoSport to ensure that more and more customers can drive into the festival season with their favorite urban SUV,” he added.

In August, Ford India achieved the 1,00,000 units sales milestone, in combined domestic wholesale and export sales for its sub-4 metre EcoSport SUV. Manufactured in the auto major's Chennai facility, the baby SUV not only serves the demands of domestic market, but also being exported to several parts of the world, including South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and various European countries.

In reference to the exports, the company stated, “The positive response to the Chennai-made Ford EcoSport across the globe validates and further strengthens Ford India’s credentials as a world-class manufacturing hub.”
