The new manufacturing unit will be producing the new Ford Figo and its twin compact sedan
The American automaker’s spanking new facility in Sanand, Gujarat is ready and will be inaugurated by the end of this month. If reports are to be believed the facility is likely to be inaugurated on 26th of March, 2015 by the chief minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel. As the Sanand plant will be operational by month end, the annual production of Ford India will be nearly doubled coupling with the Chennai’s plant. The highlight of the new facility is that it will be manufacturing the new Ford Figo and Figo ‘Aspire’ compact sedan. The vehicles are expected to launch in couple of months with a formal announcement soon.
The plant is situated in the vicinity of Tata's new facility which produces Nano. The Ford’s new manufacturing unit has an approximate installed capacity of 2.4 lac vehicles and 2.7 lac engines annually. Moreover, once the Sanand facility is running in full swing, Ford India will have a cumulative capacity of approximately 4.4 lac cars and nearly 6.1 lac engines annually.
