Ford Motor Company has showcased India-bound next generation Ford Figo and its twin compact sedan at the on-going 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The Blue Oval compay also showcased three new modded concepts of EcoSport - Storm, Beauty and Beast at show alongside these besides others.
Both the cars - next gen Figo (known as KA in Brazil) and its compact sedan - KA+ (note: in Brazil its nudge over 4m but in India it will be sub-4m to get tax benefits) are already on sale there. The hatch went to sales nearly two months ago and is already a big success there while sedan went-up recently. Adding onto the Indian debut, both the cars are expected to launch early next year and are reportedly very first cars to roll out from Ford’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Like its Brazilian counterpart, both the cars are coming with some trendy features like Ford’s SYNC audio system, AppLink smartphone integration, Emergency Assistance, MyFord Dock, etc; similar to the ones in Fiesta.
The current powertrains of Figo are likely to get replaced by one in the Brazilian version. The KA and KA+ are offered with a new 1.0 liter Ti-VCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing) naturally aspirated petrol along with the 1.5 Ti-VCT. The motor chucks out power in the range of 80-85bhp while torque stands near to 105Nm. Since in Brazil the duo are only available with petrol powertrains; adding on India context, a diesel will certainly be on offer when it comes to the sub continent (as diesel accounts for majority of the sales here). Expected unit is a 1.5 liter TDCI from Fiesta as the Figo’s 1.4 TDCI unit is already aging.
