Ford India has sold mere 151 units of Figo in Dec 2014, certainly lowest score in the hatch’s history in India!
Figo, the hatch that single-handedly revived Ford India’s fortune in the country, is approaching end of its lifespan and we know why, that's because the replacement is coming soon. But the vehicles which was averaging in the close vicinity of 1500 units sales a month, dropped suddenly to a miniscule 151 units in December 2014. Looks like American manufacturer has deliberately stopped producing the hatch, are we getting the next-gen 2015 early than expected?
Adding on this context, Ford India has already started testing next-gen Figo in the country. And reportedly the company has also started trial production runs of the hatch at their upcoming manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, inauguration of which is due early this year.
Moreover, the 2015 hatch recently went on to sale in Brazil (known as ‘KA’ there) and since September, Ford has rolled out more than 43,839 units in Brazil! The South American country has similar market sentiments like our, looks like new Figo will be repeating history of its predecessor.

Like we said before, Figo hatch will be produced from the new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat - the waiting on the upcoming hatch is likely to remain minimal. Since the new plant is humongous compared to Chennai’s unit. Speaking about the prices, it is likely to undercut its arch rival Maruti Suzuki Swift’s prices, like they did with the on going one.
