We all know that the Indian automotive market is going through its worst phase ever, and carmakers are trying everything to remain stable in the market. Cars like Swift, Duster, which are known to generate huge volumes for their respective makers, are also affected by the slowdown in the market. However, we bring you a story which tells you about the big ganers in terms of sales in July 2013.

Ford EcoSport

Few months back, Honda Cars India Ltd. launched its much awaited and first ever diesel car, Amaze compact sedan in India. The car receieved an overwhelming response from the buyers, and the waiting period for the car went up to 4-5 months. In July, Honda Amaze recorded its best ever sales figure at 6515 units sold. Amaze compact sedan accounted for more than 50 per cent of total sales of Honda in India, and has helped the company to post 156 per cent sales growth in July itself.

Ford EcoSport is the another big gainer in July, and has helped the American automaker to register its best ever sales figure in the Indian car market. The compact SUV was launched a month ago, and registered an overwhelming 30,000 bookings within the time span of 17 days. One can easily identify the popularity of the car by knowing that the waiting period for the EcoSport went up to 9-10 months.

Renault Duster

While talking about the two big losers (obviously among the popular ones) in July month, they are Maruti Suzuki Swift and Renault Duster. Maruti Suzuki Swift is still the country's top selling hatchback, but it recorded a big downfall in terms of sales in July month. The launch of Ford EcoSpot has certainly affected the sales of Duster SUV, which reported only 3,089 units in July. Renault has been consistently selling around 5-6 thousand units of Duster since its launch in India, but it suddenly posted around 40-50 per cent sales decline this month.

While Swift hatch registered a decline, its sibling Swift Dzire reported a big jump in July sales. The company sold 15,249 units of Dzire as against 11,413 units in the year-ago month. It seems like Swift Dzire has't been much affected by Honda Amaze.
