Honda BR-V is a Mobilio based compact SUV, which will be Honda’s condentender for the segment and will face-off against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and the recently launched, Mahindra TUV300. The car was launched in the indonesian market, couple of days ago but no official statement has been made by the company pertaining to its impending Indian launch date. BR-V was launched with a price tag of Rs. 10.93 lakh (approximately) i.e. IDR 226.5 million in Indonesian markets and is expected to make its debut at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. We have compiled certain factors that will contribute to the pricing of Honda's upcoming offering in the Indian market. Let's have a look at what they are!
Honda’s new compact SUV will feature familiar power-plants, which will include the 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel mill. The powerplants will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which will come as standard for both petrol and diesel variants. Honda will also introduce the car with an option of its new CVT transmission in the petrol variants. In terms of creature comforts, Honda BR-V will be offered with features like touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, diamond cut alloys, DRLs, foldable third row, rear parking camera, electrically controlled wing mirrors, etc.
So, considering Honda might want to maintain a substantial price buffer between BR-V and Mobilio, so that the introduction of the SUV doesn’t hamper the sales of the MPV (irrespective of how unsubstantial they are!), while undercutting Hyundai Creta, which will be its chief rival, we expect Honda BR-V to be launched with a price tag of Rs. 8.2 lacs with the top of the line model featuring a price tag of Rs. 12.1 lacs.
