India's second largest carmaker Hyundai Motors India has finally launched the much anticipated Grand i10 in India today. The petrol variants of the vehicle are priced in the range of Rs 4.30 lakh- 5.48 lakh, while the diesel variants are priced at Rs 5.24 lakh- 6.41 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The Hyundai Grand i10 has been offered in total four trims- Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta, available both in petrol and diesel versions. There will also be a Asta (O) trim for both petrol and diesel version. The vehicle will also make its global debut at the coming Frankfurt Motor Show, but India has become the first market to inspect both its unveiling and the launch. The Grand i10 will be made available in eight different colour options- Golden Orange, Phantom Black, Wine Red, Stardust, Sleek Silver, Silky Beige,Twilight Blue and Pure White.
With this pricing, Hyundai has managed to position the Grand i10 between the company's two top-selling hatchbacks i10 and i20. The company has called this a 'compact high entry vehicle'. The Grand i10 is 100mm longer than the European model, which makes it even more spacious and comfortable. While the new Grand i10 will replace the existing iA globally, in India it will co-exist with the current i10. The all new Grand i10 will directly compete against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra and Figo, claims Hyundai India.
The engine options offered with the car are a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol mill and an all new 1.1 litre diesel mill. The 1.2-litre Kappa is the similar engine which does its duty to the i10 and i20; it produces the maximum power output of 82bhp, 114Nm, while returning the mileage of around 18.9kmpl. The petrol model of the car has been offered with both the four-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission options. On the other hand 1.1-litre second generation three-cylinder diesel engine named U2 is a new engine introduced in the country, which churns out the maximum power output of 70bhp and 180Nm of torque, returning the mileage of 24kmpl (ARAI).
