Hyundai Motor’s three new global designs have won the coveted Red Dot Design Award, new generation i20 (Elite in India) five-door, new generation i20 Coupe and the 2015 Sonata. Each of these three models reflects Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy, featuring smooth flowing and dynamic body lines. The new generation i20 (Elite) has been a major success for the brand worldwide and will hopefully inspire many more compact yet spacious models.
It has a longer, lower and wider body than the previous version. It looks more confident in its stance as emphasised by the longer bonnet, more upright A-pillars and new-look hexagonal grille. Simple lines extend along the body, and the rear is marked out by gloss-black C-pillars that create the illusion of a floating roof. Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer, Hyundai Motor Group states, "We are delighted to receive recognition for our designs from the members of the acclaimed Red Dot jury. Our approach to design embodies the progressive spirit of Hyundai, and the jury’s decision demonstrates the advances we are making worldwide.”
Then is the luxurious new Sonata with a more refined look through a new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Other noticeable upgrades include stiffer body structure, better ride quality, reduced noise, vibration and harshness and advanced safety and convenience features. Also mentioning his joy, Jochen Sengpiehl, Vice President Marketing, Hyundai Motor Europe said, “Our model range is now stronger than ever, attracting new customers to Hyundai. Design plays a key role, enhancing the emotional appeal of our cars and creating a desirable brand image. Through design, we continue to shift perceptions of our brand”.
