Suzuki announces that the new Vitara (our Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara replacement) is the cleanest 4x4 SUV in the UK market with 111g/km CO2 emission (for the diesel model). The Vitara is going for sale starting this April in UK and is expected to enter India by early next year. Moreover, Suzuki promises that that the new Vitara 1.6l diesel 4x4 - AllGRIP returns an impressive 67.2 mpg (nearly 28 kmpl)! Moreover, Maruti Suzuki India is also on achieving higher fuel efficiency spree, expect high number from the upcoming Vitara in India.
The lower emissions are result of the small yet peppy engine line-up of the Vitara. The SUV in UK will be pulled by both petrol and diesel motors. The petrol version get a ‘M16A’ 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine chucking out 120 PS @ 6000 rpm and 156 Nm of max torque @ 4400 rpm; mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The greener diesel version gets a ‘D16AA’ 1.6-litre DDiS turbocharged diesel engine mustering 120 PS @ 3750 rpm, similar to that of petrol, torque stands tall at 320 Nm @ 1750 rpm.
In terms of styling, the 2015 Vitara is a fresh new design and is built from ground up compared to its predecessor. It offers multiple contemporary features like LED projector headlamps, daytime-running-LEDs, machined alloys, etc. Interiors feature a 7-inch touch-screen ‘SmartPlay’ infotainment system featuring navigation and smartphone integration similar to that of Ciaz along with plenty of other goodies.
