We can expect a similar pricing when it will be launched in India by the end of 2015
Suzuki Motors has launched the AMT version of Wagon R in the Indonesian market. Christened as Wagon R GS with Auto Gear Shift, the car has been launched at the price tag of 113 million Indonesia Rupiah which goes approximately Rs. 5.5 lac. A total of three variants have been launched namely GL, GS and GX and color options ranging between 6-8 will be available depending upon the trim. This is the same car which is sold in India by the name Wagon R Stingray and uses the identical 1.0 liter K10B engine working in Indian counterpart.
With the AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) loaded cars gaining momentum across the world, the potential Indian market cannot remain insusceptible to the growing effect. Maruti has already launched Celerio with the same AMT system way back in February last year, followed by Alto K10 in November, and is currently working to implement the same in its other models. Wagon R is the next to get this automatic mechanism and company will only be implementing this technology in its Stingray model.
Currently, Wagon R+Stingray sales count averages around 12,000/month, so we can anticipate a little increment in this figure.
As apparent by the fact that both Celerio and Alto K10 attracted a long waiting period for their automatic variants on launch, Wagon R being the mass favorite is also expected to follow the same trait. As far as price is concerned, we can expect similar pricing Suzuki gave to the Indonesian version, as it would be obvious to price the AMT version about 30,000-40,000 above the Manual one.
