Jaguar Land Rover had began the production of its new 3.0-litre supercharged petrol engine last year. We had experienced both the iterations of this engine on the F-TYPE— with one being the 338bhp and the second behind 375bhp.
The sales of the British marquee has been on the rise and it got a further boost with its new 2.2-litre engine on the XF, and also the local assembly of this entry-level sedan in Pimpri. The 2.2-litre is already less expensive and at the same time, the CKD version of the XF has reduced the cost.
The company has promised to launch 40 new products and derivatives in the next five years. One derivative is this new engine that will replace the existing naturally aspirated 5.0-litre petrol unit with a more efficient 3.0-litre supercharged mill. This will mean that the Jaguar XJ will come with 3.0-litre petrol and diesel options and a 5.0-litre supercharged petrol will be the other option. This engine will be initially offered on the XJ and even the Range Rover Sport and XF will get this mill.
In terms of new products, the F-TYPE will come to India in July. This will be the convertible model and then other all-new product the Range Rover Sport will follow in September. We have driven both these cars, and read our review for the same, on CarDekho’s Expert Reviews section .
