Mahindra is all set to launch Scorpio facelift; the refreshed SUV sporting both cosmetic and mechanical changes is coming on this 25th well ahead of the festive season. To further affirm the nearing launch, bookings of the new SUV have already started. Scorpio competes with Duster (which is also getting a 4WD avatar soon), Tata Safari (mild-facelift is expected soon) and Nissan Terrano.
Speaking of the changes, it's the front end of the Scorpio that has received major cosmetic upgrades, headlights of the vehicle are reportedly getting a day-time-running-LEDs. According to the spy shots, rear end of the Scorpio hasn't changed much but sports a new LED taillight along with subtle changes. On the inside, Scorpio is receiving a completely new dashboard, new instrumentation cluster with a large multi-information screen along. The revised central console gets a large screen touch screen infotainment system (expect satellite navigation). Moreover, automatic air-conditioning is also on board. Apart from these, expect a new set of alloy wheels along with newer color shades.
Mechanically, new Scorpio will carry forward the same 2.2 liter mHawk motor but reportedly Mahindra has uprated this engine to extract more power while the fuel efficiency will also be increased. In the current Scorpio, the 2.2 mHawk produces 120bhp and 290Nm of torque and is mated to a five speed manual gearbox and an auto box. It is expected that Mahindra will launch the new Scorpio with an updated five-speed box along with a heavily altered chassis to better drivability.
