Maruti Suzuki has started taking bookings for the Swift facelift across the country through all the company's 1370 dealerships. India's highest selling premium hatch is getting an elusive facelift, launch is expected later this month or early November. There are no radical changes inside-out but it's likely to get an engine tuning and fuel efficiency is expected to go up. Will the fuel economy be higher than Ciaz? No confirmation as of yet.
Starting with the exteriors, the front bumper gets subtle changes, it is more edgier now while the much anticipated 'L' day-time-running-LEDs (as seen on European version) on the fog is somehow replaced with chrome appliqué. There are new set of alloys, that's the only visible change to sides while rear profile is unaltered. On the inside, Swift is reportedly getting driver seat height adjust in all the variants, engine stat-stop button, power foldable wing mirrors.
Mechanically, Swift will retain its powertrain but is likely to receive tuning for better efficiency. In the on-going model Swift is powered by a 1.2L K12 petrol motor mustering 85.8bhp and 114Nm. Diesel will be the 1.3L Fiat's MJD dubbed as DDiS with fixed-geometry-turbo chucking out 74bhp and 190Nm. Both diesel and petrol figures are expected to receive slight bump. Moreover, both the engine at present are mated to a 5-speed unit but facelifted Swift could offer an automatic in the petrol version similar to that of Dzire's.
