Within days after we reported that Maruti will be increasing production for its two models -- the Brezza and the Baleno, it has now emerged that the manufacturing of Swift and the Swift Dzire will suffer due to the same. The Gujarat plant is yet to become operational and therefore, Manesar and Gurugram facilities will be in charge of all the production. Maruti has systematically reduced the production of the Swift and the Dzire from the over-burdened plants to forge the path for the Brezza and the Baleno.
It is evident that the carmaker’s latest product, the Brezza, has recorded an overwhelming response from the market. To state some achievements -- it completed 40,000 bookings within a few days of its launch and dislodged the EcoSport from the spot of the top selling car in the sub-compact SUV space. Recently, the waiting period for the car had soared to six months, courtesy the hike in demand. The news of increasing production capacity will surely provide some relief to the waiting customers.
The Baleno has its own success story. It has been doing extremely well since the launch and now has become the most exported vehicle from Maruti’s portfolio. Not so long ago, the carmaker registered over one lakh bookings for the Baleno. The India made version will also be launched in the UK on 01 June 2016.
The Swift and the Dzire are now comparatively older products. Though, the carmaker is not done with them yet (Maruti is launching AMT is the Swift diesel), we feel it is a good move by the carmaker to concentrate on newer models. They not only inject latest technologies in the automotive world, but also give customers a wider range of choice.
