Automobili Lamborghini has taken the wraps off its new Huracan GT3 at their headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.
Underpinned on an aluminium-carbon chassis, the GT3 has a composite body and weighs 1,239 Kgs. with 42/58 front/rear weight distribution. Under the hood is an uprated version of the road car's 5.2-litre V10 powerunit, incorporating a Bosch ECU managing the traction control, gearbox and TFT dashboard display. It features race-spec wiring throughout, a six-speed gearbox, three-disc racing clutch, and above all, the rear-wheel-drive mechanism.
‘‘With the Huracán GT3, Lamborghini Squadra Corse takes a further step forward in the development and production of a race car for this category, which is among the most prestigious and challenging in international motorsport. Lamborghini is thus for the first time directly involved in GT motorsport activities with the in-house development of this new model,’’ declared Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Not to be confused with the Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo that will race in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Europe, Asia and North America from this year, the new Huracan GT3 will be competing in the more demanding Blancpain Endurance Series over five venues in Europe, including the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hours race.
