Mercedes-Benz has revealed its GLS-Class SUV at the ongoing LA Auto Show. It is largely a facelift of GL, but now comes with the ‘S’ branding accompanying the GL.
The S branding gives the SUV some stronger body lines, a new front look courtesy to the new grille and full LED headlamps. The side and rear profile remain almost unaltered with slight tweaks like new 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and a sleeker rear look.
Mechanically, GLS-Class will come with a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 Engine that produces 449bhp and will be called GLS550. This will be mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox to give a seamless drive. The base variant, which is India bound will feature a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 and will be called GLS450.

On the Inside, there have been no prominent changes except for a larger Infotainment screen for the COMAND system which has an 8-inch color Media Display as well as an intuitive touch-pad. The Remote Online services on this system allow access to vehicle information from anywhere at all times, including the status of windows and doors, mileage, tire pressures and other diagnostic data. Slight changes have been made in the upholstery but the essence of the cabin remains the same. The car is expected to be launched in India by the mid-2016 and might be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo.
