Mini has launched Cooper S in India at Rs 34.65 lac (Ex-Showroom Pan India). The Cooper S variant is most powerful version of Copper model and is only available in three-door lineup. Mini Cooper S apart from minor cosmetic features red S badge in both the front and rear side, large air intakes and newly designed honeycomb front grille. The car will be sold in country en-route CBU (Completely Build Unit). Prior to this peppier launch, last year, the automaker had also launched the Cooper diesel in both three and five-door versions.
Mini Cooper S is based on parent company BMW’s new UKL front-wheel drive platform and flaunts new front suspension along with revised rear suspension set-up. The go-cart felling is further enhanced by new set of alloy wheels and long black sunroof. On an optional feature, Mini also offers wider 17-inch cosmos spoke light alloy wheels.
The powerful Cooper S is powered by 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder, twinturbo petrol engine which gives an output of 189bhp and peak torque of 280Nm. The twinturbo engine is mated to six-speed automatic steptronic gearbox which transfers power to front wheels. With 189 horses under the belt, the car is able to achieve knot to 100 in mere 6.7 seconds with top speed of 233kmph.
