BMW, the German luxury car maker has officially revealed its all-new BMW 2 Series Coupe. The vehicle will go on sale in the US in the first quarter of 2014 as the 228i and the M235i. The BMW M235i will be the first M Performance model to be offered in the US, which includes an impressive list of performance enhancing features. It will replace the 1-Series Coupe, and will make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in January. The new Coupe is 72mm larger, 32mm wider than its predecessor, and it has a wheelbase of 2,690mm (30mm longer). It also has an improved interior space, including 19mm of extra front headroom and 21mm additional rear legroom. The BMW 228i Coupe is powered by the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 240bhp. The range-topping, the BMW M235i gets a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder with TwinPOwer technology that churns out a maximum power output of 322bhp. The M performance model features standard M Adaptive suspension, M Sport Braking system, variable sport steering and Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires. Even the exhaust has been specifically tuned for the M235i.
Efficiency is further increased by the extensive use of BMW EfficientDynamics technology, including Air Curtains and the Auto Start/Stop function in conjunction with both manual and automatic transmissions; ECO PRO mode is activated via the standard Driving Experience Control switch and includes a coasting function in conjunction with the 8-speed automatic transmission.
