German auto major BMW that had showcased the 3rd generation X5 at the recently held Frankfurt Motor Show, is now planning to bring in the same vehicle to India as well. Expected to be launched within this year only, the vehicle has already made its way to several international markets. The new X3 has received the tall upright stance, broader kidney grilles with chrome surrounds, two-piece tailgate, LED integrated headlamps and sever other changes, which turns it into an even more desirable product.

With 1938mm width, 4886mm length and 1762mm height, the new BMW X5 is 5mm wider, 32mm longer and 14mm taller than the existing model. However, wheelbase has remained the same 2933mm. Inside the cabin, the new X5 receives a 650-litre boot. The car has also been offered with an optional third row of seats in some markets, which makes it a seven-seater.

In terms of features, the all new X5 gets lane departure warning and road sign information, head up display, night vision with human and animal detection, 360 degree surround view parking assistant and collision warning etc, making it an overall attractive package.

The engines offered with the new X5 are a 4.4-litre V8 turbo petrol, a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel, and another 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mill, capable of churning out maximum power output of 450PS, 258PS and 381PS respectively. If media reports are to be believed, BMW might later on add three more engines to the line-up including a 218PS 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel, 313PS 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel, and a 306PS 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol. However, what all engines will be offered in India, is still unknown.

Since the all new BMW X5 will replace the existing model in India, we are expecting the prices to remain almost unchanged; however, a little here and there can be done.
