Ford Ka or Next-Gen Ford Figo for India, is breaking new records every month in Brazilian auto market. Its been five months since its launch in Brazil and the American manufacturer has registered a whopping net retail of 50,000 units! In the month of January Ka clocked 8,227 units, securing its spot among the top sellers there.
It is feature rich hatchback that not only looks good but gets techs like traction control, electronic stability control, etc. It's a spacious car backed by Ford's state-of-art SYNC infotainment system. Powering this car are two petrol motors, a 85Bhp 1.0 litre and a more powerful 110Bhp 1.5 litre. Though, in India it will continue to get both diesel and petrol powermills. Speaking of Ka+ (Figo Sedan), it too registered a booking number of 10,000 units.
What this has to do with India?
Hmm. Lets take the example of top selling car in this segment, Swift; the numbers achieved in Brazil by the Next-Gen Figo are quite similar to that of Maruti’s offering in India. In the month of January, Maruti Suzuki sold around 19,000 units of Swift while the current Figo managed somewhere around 2,000. Now, accounting the fact that Figo is a 5 year old product this is a respectable number.
